CEREC Machine And Dental Crown Services Royersford

Despite being one of the most versatile pieces of equipment in our dental office, not many people know about CEREC machines and their many benefits.

What Is A CEREC Machine?

CEREC is actually an acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. While the name may be difficult to understand, the benefits are obvious. CEREC machines use 3D scans to produce ceramic inlays, onlays, and crowns that match the exact shape and size of our patients’ teeth. Best of all, the CEREC machine allows us to perform same-day restorations with crowns and dental implants.

How Does It Work?

The CEREC machine relies on 3D imaging software to create a detailed representation of your teeth. To get this information, your teeth are x-rayed, photographed, and captured by the machine, which processes the information to display a full 3D model of your mouth. Computer-Aided Design (or CAD) software then refines that model to highlight the areas that need restoration.

Once completed, the CEREC milling unit will sculpt the designed restoration out of a ceramic block. The ceramic is chosen to match your natural tooth color almost exactly. At our Janesville office, the CEREC machine can craft the restoration itself within the space of 10-20 minutes.

This is all done within a single appointment! No return trip or rescheduled appointment. At the end of your procedure, our dentists will tell you how best to care for your restoration so that it can last well into your future.
